Caroga Lake Campground has a bit of a rustic feel to it. The main draw would be the beach and for watersport activities (boating, fishing and kayaking) and likely would draw more local campers than those that are driving any distance. The campground is bordered on both sides by resident cottages. Check the satellite image to see how it is situated on the southeast shore of East Caroga Lake and surrounded by the local cottages. None of the sites offer much privacy and they are not overly large.

Site 126 would be one of the best sites
Only 1 campsite is close to the water, and that is site 125. Unfortunately it is right beside a fence by the cottages. Site 126 might be a better choice overall because it has the lake view but isn't besides the fenced side.

The campground is on the south east shore of East Caroga Lake so it is subject to winds. East Caroga Lake is connect to Caroga Lake. Both lakes are well populated with cottages so don't expect a wilderness paddling experience here. East Caroga Lake is definately the quieter of the two. Caroga Lake is very busy in the summer with lots of boats and personal watercraft. Nearby Peck Lake and Canada Lake would be better paddling options. A popular route is from Canada Lake to Stewart Landing, north of Caroga Lake, although it does require a vehicle at either end.

Unlike some other campgrounds, Caroga Lake does not seem to get overly booked. You could easily find a decent site without having to resorting to booking exactly 9 months out in advance. Sites 100-132 are most popular, especially those closer to the beach, along with sites near the beach in the row behind the beach which includes site 5-13.

Your other options should you wish to camp in this region would be to consider Northampton Beach, although I suspect Caroga Lake Campground would be the quieter of the two.
