For those who love paddling, be sure to try for sites 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 12, 13, 15, 17, 19, 20, 21, 23, or 111 on Buck Pond. These sites all have site pads set back from the water, with no water view, however they offer easy access to the water along a short path. There are no motor boats allowed on Buck Pond.
On Lake Kushaqua, paddlers will enjoy site 88, 89, 91, 92, 94, 96 or 98. Lake Kushaqua will be more interesting to paddle than Buck Pond which is basically a smaller round pond. Kushaqua is about 2 miles long and does allow motor boats.
Lake Kushaqua can be accessed from Buck Pond by a short portage. From Lake Kushaqua you can access Rainbow Lake for paddling and boating.
The good portion of the campsites at Buck Pond offer excellent privacy, as the tree density is quite thick. So if you are looking to get away from everyone, Buck Pond should be high on your wish list. Loop A (sites 1-33) offers the largest and most private sites. Loop B (sites 34-73) offer a mix of semi-private and private sites. Loop C (sites 74-107) is also a mix of semi-private and private sites.
17 sites are specifically for tents, 75 sites are for 20 foot trailers and 22 sites will accommodate a 30 foot trailer.
If you are interested in hiking, consider a trip up to Debar Mountain, 35 minutes north of the campground.
