Oquaga Creek would be a good choice for campers who are looking to spend time with the family at a very nice sandy beach, and perhaps do some biking or hiking. If you are looking for a decent buffer between you and your neighbours campsites, then you will like this campground! Be aware though that there are generally few trees between sites for visual privacy.
The Tamarack Loop (site 1-34) is hilly with many of the sites on a pad up/below the road level so check out the campsite photos if you have a trailer!
The Red Pine Circle area (sites 35-64) is very similar to the Tamarack Loop, perhaps a bit more hilly in the center.
The Beaver Creek Circle is bit less hilly and feels quite open. There is great buffer between sites but limited trees between sites.
Personally I didn't have a preference for campsites in one area or another at Oquaga Creek.
Disclaimer: I have not actually camped here, I have only visited to take campsite photos. My reviews are based on having camped at 28 NY State/DEC campgrounds in recent years and having visited/stayed at 86 of the campgrounds which gives me the insight to provide comparisons which I hope are useful to other campers.
