Campground Overview
Buck Pond compares to a mountain retreat; it offers secluded sites, numerous water access, a guarded bathing beach, and a walking path that stretches for miles along an abandoned railroad bed. The campground offers a variety of recreational opportunities, including canoeing and boating, fishing, hiking, and bicycling.
Buck Pond has 114 campsites, 112 are reservable, 21 of which are directly on the water. There are NO electric sites.
Buck Pond is about 30 minutes north of the town of Saranac Lake in the northern Adirondacks.

Offers a fine lakeside camping experience with sites close, or directly by the water. 21 campsites are directly by the water although only about half have a view or easy water access from the site pads. Campground is adjacent to a smaller pond and a medium sized lake for enjoying water activities including swimming, paddling, boating and fishing. |

Featured Activities
| Water | Watersites are located on both Buck Pond and Lake Kushaqua. Buck Pond is a smaller fairly round pond where motor boats are prohibited. It is .6 miles long by .4 miles wide with a surface area of only 128 acres. Lake Kushaqua is a 2 miles long by .65 miles at its widest. It has mainly narrow areas as well as a few islands and a complex interesting shoreline and a surface area of 377 acres. It is forever wild except at the north end which has mainly camps lining the shoreline. |
| Beach | A smaller sandy beach with a 90ft shoreline however the beach itself extends back a full 125ft from the water making it perfect for sunbathers. |
| Paddling | Excellent paddling on Lake Kushaqua and onwards into Rainbow Lake. Choose Buck Pond for a smaller paddle. |
| Boating | A full range of water activities would be suitable on Lake Kushaqua, although the north end being much more open would be more suited to watersports. Lake Kushaqua also connects to Rainbow Lake via a boat friendly culvert. Rainbow Lake is 4 miles long and quite narrow (max 1/3 mile in width). Clear Pond is also accessible from Rainbow Lake. |
