Been a member for a few years now. Usually go camping 2 times a year. Sometimes visit different and new places and use camp photos to help choose the right site. This is a great resource for those that want to see the campsite they want before they choose. One or two improvements I would love to see in the future would be a rough site plan with dimensions sort of like a floorplan to a house so you can see not only how deep the site is but width too. Also would like to get a rating on how flat the sites are. I've been to some campgrounds where the sites were really off camber and made it hard to set up tables and cook. Overall this is a wonderful resource!

Used to love this site used it daily. Was awesome because I don’t do Facebook, I could see cancellations and take advantage of them. This year I was charged $27.00 and got basically nothing. This site is now useless to a person who isn’t on social media. Unable to even see any cancellations let alone book them. Very sad

Unfortunately, that feature is no longer available due to factors outside our control. BaseCamp continues to focus on helping campers choose the right site with detailed photos and planning tools.

This web site is the best single source for camping information we have found for NY State Parks. All of the information we have garnered here has been accurate and, in some cases, more up to date than reserveamerica. Photos are extremely helpful for site selection and, as paddlers, we especially appreciate the lakeside experience rating. In addition to the info and photos, we have enjoyed waterfront sites at our favorite campgrounds thanks to the cancellation alert feature. Finally, there is a knowledgeable and welcoming camping community that has grown around this site. Thank you Dave et al for all you do.

Not sure what happened to my base pro portion of my subscription. But, I was getting all the cancellation information and then I renewed my subscription. After that, basecamp pro wasn’t available anymore, it’s been disabled, and I can’t get any info out this site anymore. Basically, I have first tier membership now with no way of accessing cancellation notices anymore. Waste of $27…

My wife and I enjoy Base Camp a great deal, We have a 35 foot motorhome and we love to camp in many of the out of the way New York State Campgrounds. Since we started using Base Camp it has helped to improve our camping experience by showing us what the site looks like. The up and down the road shots let's us know what we will be facing when we get there to get on the site, what a stress reliever. Keep up the good work Base Camp.

You put a cancelation notification for me and I try to book it and it says I can't??? Why would you put it in my site and not let me book it???? Poor service remove it if it's booked! Now you want more money to look at all cancelations? Aweful!

This website gives you an insight into what the majority of campsites look like before you book. There are usually many pictures for each site at all different angles, Park map and amenities. The filters for size of sight and which campground you’re interested in is in valuable.

We have been paid subscribers for 2 years now and consider it an essential and integral part of our camping trip planning. Having pictures of all the sites and campgrounds we want to visit is awesome, especially for planning group trips. The photos are awesome and accurate. Brand new to camping with a spontaneous travel trailer purchase in May 2023, initially I was extremely overwhelmed trying to find weekend sites, followed by disappointment when it seemed everything was booked months in advance. We camp a lot during camping season and I have to say, this site have helped us a lot. We have a trailer and have been in tight, uneven, rocky sites before, where we would have a hard time backing up, getting out (because of trees) or trying to level the camper, there are times we just wanted to leave. Now I never book a site without looking at the pictures in all angles first. So worth it.

This site has been a life safer. We visit Fish Creek as a family and require 3-6 sites every year. Until Dave created this site we have always been scattered. Now with the use of this site we can get very near if not right next to each other, making this camping trip more like a family reunion and being able to spend more time together. This is an amazing resource for grabbing campsites throughout NYS. It is great to be able to filter for what you need when you need it. We are trying to introduce toddlers to the joys of camping before we take them into the deep woods. The ability to find a level-ish water access site with shallow quiet water and and lots of boulders for climbing and not too close to the road just by looking at photos has been so helpful! The pictures are of high quality and are exactly what you need to see before booking. I recommend this website to everyone I know (probably not the best idea to add competitors, sorry all)!

We are a retired couple and are able to camp just about any time the campgrounds are open. So far we have 7 weeks of camping for the 2024 season. BaseCamp has become an integral part of my camping trip planning. We have a large 5th wheel and there are definitely sites that would not accommodate our trailer due to various obstacles. My only issue is the age of some of the photos, but I can understand the difficulties of visiting and photographing all the campgrounds. Truly appreciate what the site has to offer and the new 9 month booking buddy has been a great addition. We recommend the site to many other campers if they haven't used it or know about it.

I've Been camping relatively short time (11 years) compared to many. The extensive multi angle pictures are a huge help when having to plan the approach and entry into a chosen site. Base camp, offers up to 17 different views..
The big plus for me is that Reserve America is an absolute nightmare to navigate, and pin point a favorite camp ground, favorite campsite, and a specific date and get it all laser aimed at 9:00 AM nine months in advance. Hundreds of NY campers doing the same thing at the same time 8:59:59!! Base camp is a very worthwhile tool. I really like the 9 month look feature. Well worth the annual fee!
